Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable High School Chemistry Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction and prepare students for success on the New York State Regents Chemistry examination. The ideal candidate will foster scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while creating a safe and inclusive laboratory environment that supports all learners.
Essential ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Curriculum
- Plan and deliver rigorous chemistry instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards and Regents requirements.
- Develop lesson plans that incorporate inquiry-based learning, real-world applications, and hands-on laboratory experiences.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with disabilities.
- Integrate literacy, mathematics, technology, and scientific practices into daily instruction.
- Utilize data to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
Regents Preparation
- Prepare students for the New York State Regents Chemistry examination through targeted review, practice assessments, and intervention strategies.
- Analyze assessment data to identify areas of need and provide timely student support.
- Maintain high expectations for student achievement and growth.
Laboratory Management
- Conduct laboratory investigations in accordance with all safety regulations and school policies.
- Maintain accurate inventory of laboratory equipment, materials, and chemicals.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and laboratory waste.
- Teach and reinforce laboratory safety procedures.
Assessment and Communication
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student progress.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and school staff regarding academic performance and student needs.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.
Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with science department colleagues to develop curriculum and share best practices.
- Participate in professional development activities and faculty meetings.
- Support school-wide initiatives, clubs, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Maintain professional standards and comply with all district policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field.
- Valid New York State Teaching Certificate in Chemistry (Grades 7-12) or eligibility for certification.
- Strong content knowledge in chemistry and laboratory science.
- Knowledge of New York State Regents standards and assessments.
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience teaching Regents Chemistry at the high school level.
- Demonstrated success improving Regents examination results.
- Experience integrating educational technology into science instruction.
- Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching practices.

Salary and Benefits
- Salary Range: Approximately $68,900 to $124,000+ annually, based on education level, years of teaching experience, and salary differentials under the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) contract. New teachers with a bachelor's degree currently start at
