Burton’s Fire is seeking a Service Writer to support our growing fire apparatus service operation. This role is the front line between our customers and our shop, responsible for intake, communication, billing, and keeping jobs moving efficiently from start to finish.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for service customers (fire departments, municipalities, and commercial clients)
- Open and manage work orders, ensuring accurate documentation of customer concerns and scope of work
- Create estimates on repairs and service work.
- Coordinate with shop leadership to schedule jobs and track progress
- Open and maintain warranty claims through OEM portal from start to finish.
- Track Recalls and service bulletins
- Provide timely updates to customers on job status, delays, and completion timelines
- Lead the billing process for completed work orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Handle customer audits and respond to questions related to work order billing
- Review completed work orders for accuracy prior to invoicing
- Maintain organized records of service history, parts, and labor
- Help prioritize incoming work based on urgency and shop capacity
Qualifications:
- Experience in a service writer, service advisor, or similar role
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- High proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
