Duties
- Plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including special events and themed programs.
- Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their preferences, needs, and individual histories to personalize activities effectively.
- Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, exercise classes, and memory care programs that promote socialization and mental stimulation.
- Collaborate with team members to develop engaging activity calendars that align with residents’ care plans and wellness goals.
- Manage scheduling for resident events, ensuring smooth operations and timely communication with staff and families.
- Maintain accurate records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes to continually improve program offerings.
- Assist in creating a lively community atmosphere by fostering resident participation and encouraging new ideas for activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living facilities or nursing homes.
- Strong background working with seniors, particularly those with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or other memory impairments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of geriatric care principles, including dementia care and aging issues counseling.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, and team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, documentation, and program development purposes.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care environments is highly desirable.
- Ability to lead team efforts in program development while maintaining a positive attitude and proactive approach.
