AMFT/LMFT Mental Health Therapist – Remote in California
Compensation:
- AMFT: $35-40 per clinical hour
- LMFT: $70–$80 per clinical hour
Path to Purpose (P2P) is seeking a compassionate, dependable Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our growing clinical team.
This is a flexible, remote opportunity providing mental-health services to adolescents and adults throughout California. We’re looking for someone who connects well with clients, communicates clearly, and brings a warm but clinically grounded approach to treatment.
What You’ll Do
- Provide individual therapy through secure telehealth
- Facilitate structured outpatient, IOP, and PHP groups as assigned
- Complete clinical assessments and contribute to individualized treatment plans
- Use evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT-informed skills, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Participate in supervision, case consultation, and team meetings
- Recognize and appropriately escalate safety, crisis, or higher-level-of-care concerns
- Coordinate with clinical leadership, care coordination, and other members of the treatment team
- Follow HIPAA, ethical, documentation, and organizational requirements
Schedule
- Part-time with flexible scheduling
- Daytime and evening opportunities may be available
- Hours vary based on census, client scheduling, and program needs
- No minimum number of hours or client referrals is guaranteed
- Additional hours may become available as P2P continues to grow
Required Qualifications
- Active California AMFT registration or LMFT license in good standing
- Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, counseling, psychology, or another qualifying behavioral-health field
- Legally eligible to provide clinical services in California
- Comfortable providing individual and group therapy through telehealth
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to assess risk and respond appropriately to crisis or safety concerns
- Reliable computer, secure internet connection, and private telehealth workspace
- Current professional liability insurance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with adolescents and adults
- Experience in outpatient, IOP, PHP, or another structured behavioral-health program
- Experience facilitating virtual therapy or psychoeducational groups
- Familiarity with co-occurring mental-health and substance-use concerns
- Comfort working within a collaborative, fast-growing organization

Compensation and Employment Classification
Compensation is based on licensure, experience, assigned responsibilities, and the type of clinical services provided:
- AMFT: $35–$40 per clinical hour as a part-time W-2 employee
- LMFT: $70–$80 per clinical hour as a part-time W-2 employee or independent contractor, depending on the final working arrangement
Clinical hours and assignments vary based on program needs and client census. No minimum number of hours, sessions, or referrals is guaranteed.
