Summary
SWAT Medics are employees of EmergyCare Inc. and work under the direction of the Erie Bureau of Police SWAT.
Nature and Scope
The SWAT Medic’s primary role is to provide basic and advanced pre- hospital emergency care to those injured during SWAT operations. The SWAT Medic operates in a secondary unit within the “hot zone” in support of the primary unit. The SWAT medic engages in preventative healthcare measures as well as providing care while transporting the patient(s) to nearby facilities.
Requirements

Must have a minimum of 30 months’ employment with EmergyCare

Must be in good standing with the organization with no major or intolerable violations pursuant to the organization’s progressive discipline policy.

Must have uninterrupted medical command privileges
- Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Paramedic or higher, Paramedic Certification in good standing with BLS-CPR, ACLS, PALS and ITLS/PHTLS certification or the ability to complete a course before the duration of SWAT training has concluded.
- Must be able to pass the physical agility test. The test and parameters will be set forth by the Erie Bureau of Police SWAT

Must be able to pass a rigorous psychological examination

Must have basic knowledge of firearms
- Must be able to attend two training sessions a month

Must be able to be at any point in the city limits of Erie, PA within 30 minutes of being paged

Must be able to be on call 24/7 and have the ability to be paged when not on duty
- Must be able to be flexible with work schedule as shift assignment could be changed based on selection
