We're hiring a NYS Certified Peer Specialist for our client in Middletown, NY. Ideal candidate will have past experience working as a Youth Peer and has past lived experience in a Mental Health Facility and MUST be a Certified Peer Specialist
Duties
- Provide peer support and advocacy to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders
- Serve as a role model and mentor to individuals in recovery
- Assist individuals in developing and achieving their personal recovery goals
- Conduct individual and group sessions to promote wellness and self-care
- Collaborate with treatment teams to develop and implement individualized care plan
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to provide immediate support during times of crisis
- Assist individuals in navigating behavioral health systems and accessing community resources
- Document client interactions and progress in accordance with agency policies
Experience:
- Certification as a NYS Peer Specialist or willingness to obtain certification
- Experience working in the field of mental health required
- Knowledge of crisis management techniques and strategies
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques
- Understanding of behavioral health systems and community resources
- Ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
