Responsibilities
- Safely bathe, dry, and groom dogs (and sometimes cats) according to standards and client preferences
- Handle pets gently and confidently during grooming procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety
- Restrain animals appropriately using animal handling techniques to facilitate grooming tasks
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming area, including cleaning salon throughout the day
- Assist with pet care routines such as brushing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, de-shedding, and minor trimming
- Monitor pets for signs of stress or health issues during grooming sessions and report concerns to manager immediately
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating with pet owners about grooming needs and special instructions
Requirements
- Ability to work well with others ESPECIALLY in stressful situations
- Strong work ethic is crucial. Must have the ability to take initiative and complete tasks without prompting
- Prior experience in pet grooming, dog handling, or animal care is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and veterinary experience is a plus
- Strong animal handling skills with the ability to restrain pets safely and humanely
- Experience working with veterinary technicians or assistants is advantageous
- Ability to lift 50 lbs (supplies or large dogs) when needed.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Willingness to learn new grooming techniques, animal care practices, and receptionist skills
- Physical stamina to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the day. This job is very physically taxing.
