Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Plastic Extrusion Supervisor (3rd Shift) to lead our extrusion manufacturing operations. The candidate considered for this role will train on Day Shift 7am-7pm, then be moved to a night shift position 7pm-7am. This role involves overseeing the production of plastic extrusions, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining efficient workflow within the extrusion department. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with plastics extrusion processes, and leadership capabilities to manage a dynamic team. Duties
· Supervise daily plastic extrusion operations, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining high-quality standards.
· Coordinate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues related to extruders, press brake machines, and other fabrication tools.
· Direct employees with clear verbal and/or written instruction regarding the shift’s activity.
· Assist Extrusion Operators and Process Technicians with troubleshooting efforts as needed.
· Implement and monitor lean manufacturing practices to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
· Ensure work instructions are followed by all team members. Communicate any needed changes appropriately.
· Production efficiencies include coordinating team members to achieve maximum efficiency
· Oversee materials handling processes, including the use of forklifts and hand tools, to ensure safe and efficient movement of raw materials and finished products.
· Relieve team members for breaks; assist the production team as needed.
· Train and mentor team members on proper machine operation, safety protocols, and quality assurance procedures.
· Continually monitor equipment performance and report to maintenance any issues or concerns.
Qualifications
· Proven experience in plastics extrusion manufacturing or related fields such as plastics blow molding or injection molding.
· Strong mechanical knowledge
· 1-2 years of Manufacturing Management
· Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and warehouse experience is highly desirable
· Ability to operate hand tools safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment
· Basic math skills for measurement, calculations, and process adjustments
· Excellent leadership skills with the ability to supervise a team effectively while fostering a safety-conscious work environment
· Familiarity with materials handling equipment such as forklifts is preferred
· Ability to learn new processes quickly, to give clear direction, to motivate people, and to reinforce employees’ positive work performance
· Desire to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
· Strong organizational skills combined with attention to detail for documentation and process adherence. Pay: $30.81 - $42.00 per hour
