Shift: WE HAVE ONE OPENING ON EACH SHIFT, AND PAY AN OFF-SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL IF YOU WORK NIGHTS OR EVENINGS
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Injection Mold Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will be the "boots on the ground" responsible for the setup, startup, and troubleshooting of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. Your goal is to ensure high-quality production runs while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup & Pulling: Perform mold changes, install inserts, and set up end-of-arm tooling (EOAT).
- Process Optimization: Start up machines according to validated process sheets and troubleshoot issues (short shots, flash, splay, etc.) to minimize downtime.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic preventative maintenance on molds and machines; identify and report major mechanical issues.
- Quality Control: Inspect first-piece samples to ensure they meet dimensional and aesthetic specifications before handing off to production.
- Safety & Organization: Maintain a clean work area (5S) and strictly adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and PPE protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of experience as a Mold Tech or Setup Tech in a plastic injection molding environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with hydraulic and/or electric presses (e.g., Engel, Arburg, Milacron, Nissei).
- Problem Solving: Strong understanding of the "scientific molding" principles and how variables (pressure, temperature, time) affect the final part.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and operate overhead cranes/forklifts (certification provided if needed).
Preferred Skills (The "Nice-to-Haves" - ALL OF THESE WILL INCREASE YOUR STARTING PAY, WE WANT EXPERIENCED MOLDING PROS AND WANT THEM TO BE HAPPY HERE)
- Experience with robotic programming (Wittmann, Sepro, or Fanuc).
- Knowledge of RJG/eDART systems.
- Familiarity with medical (ISO 13485) or automotive (IATF 16949) quality standards.
