Job Summary: The Educational Assistant is the person responsible for providing support services to scholars and teachers in a classroom setting to meet curricular and social-emotional outcomes. It is the expectation that this individual will work with the colleagues, parents, and scholars to create a school environment that is focused on scholar achievement, character, and success beyond high school. The Lincoln Academy is a school where scholars and families are supported while maintaining high expectations for all. The Educational Assistant is expected to fully embrace the school’s methodology and uphold the high expectations of The Lincoln Academy. The Educational Assistant will support an equitable environment with rigorous instruction, joyous interactions, and strong community partnerships. Though it is impossible to list all roles the Educational Assistant will fill, specific job responsibilities include:
Essential Functions:
- Reinforce lessons by reviewing material with scholars one-on-one or in small groups
- Support teachers in establishing strong classroom culture, by following consistent routines and procedures
- Help teachers with recordkeeping, such as taking attendance, correcting scholar work, and entering grades into Skyward
- Get equipment or materials ready to help teachers prepare for lessons
- Supervise scholars outside of the classroom, such as between classes, during lunch and recess, during specials, and on field trips
- Be able to substitute in a classroom setting when required
- Participate in all school trainings to support learning teacher content and expectations
- Work with or under the guidance of a licensed teacher
- Supervise personalized learning activities during intervention and enrichment class
- Provide feedback to teachers for monitoring scholar progress
- In primary grade learning centers, work with a lead teacher to provide individualized attention to young children
- Supervise scholars working in personalized learning and provide assistance as needed
- Utilize technology to support scholar success
- Provide RTI interventions as necessary
- Supervision duties as specified
- Other duties as requested

Education
Associate’s Degree
Experience
Experience teaching in an urban setting preferred
Licensing
Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Certification required annually before first day with scholars
Physical Demands/Working Conditions: The majority of this job involves walking, sitting or standing necessary to observe classroom and school activities, mostly indoors. The ability to physically perform the duties and work in the school setting is required. Some conditions include:
- Must be able to stand up to 2 hours instructing staff or instructing a classroom of learners
- Must be able to sit and look at a computer monitor, using a keyboard/mouse and typing for up to 2 hours at a time
- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs on a frequent basis
