Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive science curricula aligned with educational standards and regulations.
- Deliver engaging lessons in biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences, incorporating hands-on experiments and dissection activities.
- Integrate learning technology and IT tools into lesson plans to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Assess student progress through quizzes, standardized tests, projects, and laboratory reports, providing timely feedback.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive, respectful learning environment for teenagers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and school-wide initiatives.
- Supervise laboratory experiments ensuring safety protocols are followed while fostering scientific inquiry and research skills.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and special education needs, including differentiated instruction.
- Mentor students academically and personally, offering guidance on science-related careers or higher education pathways.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and classroom activities in compliance with educational policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications preferred.
- Proven experience teaching science at the middle or high school level, including classroom management and lesson planning.
- Strong knowledge of scientific disciplines such as biology (cell biology, genetics, biochemistry), chemistry (organic chemistry), physics (geometry, trigonometry, calculus), and mathematics (algebra, differential equations).
- Laboratory experience with dissection techniques, microbiology procedures, molecular biology experiments, and research laboratory work.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools for lesson implementation and assessment purposes.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage students from diverse backgrounds and coordinate with colleagues.
- Ability to adapt lessons based on different learning styles and individual student needs.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and curriculum implementation standards.
- Experience working within private or Montessori school environments is advantageous but not required.
