Duties
- Safely operate various types of vehicles including commercial trucks and automobiles to deliver products across designated routes.
- Follow planned delivery routes efficiently, adjusting as needed based on traffic or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Load and unload merchandise with proper lifting techniques, ensuring safe handling of heavy items.
- Communicate professionally with clients upon delivery, providing excellent customer service and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including route logs, delivery confirmations, and compliance records in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Upsell additional products or services when appropriate to enhance customer satisfaction and sales goals.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure safety standards are met; report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Organize deliveries for optimal efficiency, balancing route planning with organizational skills to meet deadlines.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving, including route driving and automobile transportation.
- Familiarity with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safe lifting practices for heavy loads.
- Prior retail store experience or merchandising background is a plus for understanding product placement and presentation.
- Strong math skills for pricing calculations, inventory management, and route optimization.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and building lasting customer relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to handle heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocols.
- Experience in sales or upselling techniques to maximize revenue opportunities during deliveries.
