About the Program
We are currently hiring an after-school academic instructor who can support middle school and high school students across multiple subjects.
The ideal teacher is comfortable teaching and supporting:

This role is best suited for a strong general academic instructor who can work with students across different subject areas and help them stay organized, focused, and academically productive after school.

Program Schedule
The after-school academic program runs on weekdays
3:30 PM – 4:30 PM | Homework Support
Students work on their school homework and assignments in the classroom. The teacher supervises the room, answers questions, explains concepts when students are stuck, and helps students complete their homework productively.
4:30 PM – 5:30 PM | Academic Instruction
Students receive one hour of focused academic instruction. Depending on the day, the class may focus on English reading, writing, vocabulary, history, math, or science.
5:30 PM – 6:30 PM | Independent Study Guidance
Students continue with independent study, review, reading, practice work, or long-term assignments. The teacher guides students when needed, helps them stay focused, supports study planning, and provides individual academic guidance for students who need extra help.
Students may attend multiple days per week. Different days may focus on different academic areas, such as English/language arts, history, math, or science.

Who This Role Is For
We are looking for an instructor who is comfortable working with middle school and high school students and can provide support across multiple academic subjects.
The ideal candidate should be able to explain concepts clearly, manage a small classroom, help students complete homework productively, and provide structured academic guidance.
This position is especially suitable for candidates with a strong academic background in English, humanities, math, science, education, tutoring, or after-school academic support.

What You’ll Do
* Teach one-hour academic enrichment sessions for middle school and/or high school students
* Support students in reading, writing, vocabulary, history, math, and science
* Help students strengthen academic foundations and subject understanding
* Guide students through school homework and assignments
* Supervise students during independent study time
* Answer student questions and provide individual academic support
* Help students develop stronger study habits, organization, and focus
* Adapt instruction based on student grade level and ability
* Maintain a structured, focused, and positive classroom environment
* Track student progress and communicate clearly with the Summa team
* Provide brief feedback when needed regarding student performance, behavior, or progress

Who We’re Looking For
* 2–3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or after-school program experience preferred
* Experience working with middle school and/or high school students
* Ability to teach or support multiple academic subjects
* Strong reading, writing, vocabulary, and humanities skills
* Ability to support math and science homework at the middle school and high school level
* Strong classroom management skills
* Patient, organized, reliable, and engaging teaching style
* Ability to keep students focused during homework and independent study time
* Comfortable working with small groups
* Strong communication skills
* Bilingual English/Mandarin preferred but not required

* Experience teaching English reading and writing
* Experience supporting middle school or high school math
* Experience supporting science homework or science concepts
* Experience teaching history or social studies
* Experience with homework help, academic coaching, or study skills instruction
* Experience in tutoring centers, after-school programs, or private school environments
* Ability to support students across multiple grade levels
* Ability to create simple lesson plans or academic enrichment activities

Monday to Friday, 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Candidates do not need to be available every weekday, but availability for multiple weekdays is strongly preferred.
Additional one-on-one or small-group tutoring hours may be available depending on student needs and teacher qualifications.
