Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting comprehensive medical histories and recording vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, and temperature.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding of the process.
- Support physicians and healthcare providers with clinical tasks including medication administration, wound care, X-ray preparation, and basic life support (BLS) procedures.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems by accurately documenting patient encounters, ICD coding for diagnoses, and updating medical records in real-time.
- Conduct physiological assessments and support complex cases involving anatomy knowledge, physiology principles, or emergency medicine protocols.
- Support administrative functions such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and coordinating patient flow to optimize clinic efficiency.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant credential from an accredited program; prior experience in outpatient clinics is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and familiarity with X-ray procedures or other diagnostic tools are advantageous.
- Ability to perform vital signs collection accurately and support complex patient care scenarios across specialties like internal medicine, geriatrics, medical-surgical units, or PICU.
- Phlebotomy license preferred. Ability to draw blood and prep for PRP
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence; ability to handle intake processes efficiently while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or OR experience are a plus.
