JOB SUMMARY
The Wastewater Treatment Operator; preferably licensed, operates various types of process equipment and systems used to treat contaminated groundwater, leachate, industrial wastewater, sanitary wastewater, and potable water. There are 2 available positions (one day shift, one night shift)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Records operational data from process control instruments and meters, gauge readings, and chemical metering systems on specified forms.
- Operates, inspects, adjusts, and monitors process equipment, to detect problems on air, water, groundwater, wastewater, and solids handling systems.
- Under direction, performs process calculations required for the proper operation of equipment.
- Adds process chemicals, such as potassium permanganate, hydrogen peroxide, caustic, acid, chlorine, polymer, and coagulant using mixers, pumps and metering devices.
- Communicates with peers and superiors via verbal and written communications.
- Responsible for personal safety record; know, understand, and comply with all project/site safety requirements and utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment.
- Evaluate the physical characteristics of water and waste stream.
- Maintains consistent production quality and work records.
- Performs preventive maintenance using hand tools, power tools and/or precision equipment in accordance with our guidelines and requirements.
- Cleans equipment, machinery, and buildings.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience)
- High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational/technical training in wastewater treatment plant operation/equipment preferred.
- One to two years progressively responsible wastewater treatment plant operating experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Ability to work in an environment with exposure to strong chemicals, odors, gases, and irritants with proper training and provided PPE.
- Ability to comprehend and follow safety procedures, including hazardous waste site operations.
- Ability to operate equipment, meters, and gauges.
- Strong math skills including percentages, fractions, division and multiplication.
- Demonstrated motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).

Base Pay: From $18.00 per hour
