EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY TEACHER (GRADES 7–8)
Position Summary
The Educational Technology Teacher for Grades 7–8 is responsible for providing engaging, TEKS-aligned technology instruction that prepares middle school students for high school, college, and future careers. The teacher develops students' skills in digital literacy, computer applications, coding, computational thinking, digital citizenship, and emerging technologies while fostering creativity, collaboration, and responsible technology use.
The Educational Technology Teacher works closely with campus administration and classroom teachers to integrate technology across all content areas and create meaningful learning experiences that support academic achievement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction
- Plan and deliver rigorous, TEKS-aligned Technology Applications instruction for Grade 7 and Grade 8 students
- Teach:
- Digital literacy and productivity tools
- Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications
- Keyboarding and document creation
- Coding and computational thinking (e.g., Scratch, Code.org, Python or similar age-appropriate platforms)
- Multimedia presentations and digital storytelling
- Internet research and information literacy
- Digital citizenship, online safety, and cybersecurity awareness
- Responsible and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Principles of Information Technology (PIT), a Texas Education Agency (TEA) Career and Technical Education (CTE) course, incorporating foundational concepts in information technology, cybersecurity, digital systems, computer applications in academic and workplace settings
- Design engaging project-based learning experiences that promote creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of all learners, including English Learners, students receiving Special Education services, Section 504 accommodations, and Gifted and Talented students
Technology Integration
- Collaborate with core academic teachers to integrate technology into English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies
- Support students in using digital tools to complete research projects, presentations, and collaborative assignments
- Promote the effective use of educational technology to improve student engagement and achievement
Classroom Management
- Establish a structured, respectful, and engaging classroom environment
- Teach students responsible for digital behavior and appropriate use of school technology
- Maintain classroom technology and instructional equipment
Student Assessment
- Assess student learning through projects, presentations, performance tasks, and classroom assessments
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback
- Maintain accurate student records and grades
- Use assessment data to improve instruction and support student achievement
Collaboration
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, and professional development
- Collaborate with administrators, instructional coaches, counselors, and Special Education staff to support student success
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and classroom expectations
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA and school policies
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and reliability
- Participate in campus events, family engagement activities, and school initiatives
- Stay current on emerging educational technologies and instructional best practices
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate appropriate for assignment
- Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Middle School Technology Applications
- Knowledge of the Texas Career and Technical Education (CTE) Principles of Information Technology (PIT) TEKS
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Experience teaching middle school technology, computer science, or STEM

Work Location: In person
