Position Summary:
The nursing staff is responsible for providing nursing care in accordance with established policy and medical protocols, conducting screenings and nursing assessments, overseeing medication observation/administration, providing routine nursing care and coordinating with the attending physician(s).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides support and supervision to LPN staff as needed.
- Monitors and reports vital signs, withdrawal symptoms and medication administration, and documents progress in the patients chart on a daily basis
- Completes admission assessments, screens, nursing assessments, and other documentation as required by established policy.
- Communicates the results of admission assessments to the physician to ensure appropriateness of client admission and treatment
- Develops and implements individualized treatment plans, including monitoring activities to stabilize and manage withdrawals
- Monitor client progress for potential side effects, communicating with medical staff as needed
- Monitors comfort level daily, and provides appropriate care to assist client throughout the detoxification process.
- Assists the Physician/ARNP/PA as needed during medical exams and evaluations.
- Effectively communicates concerns about patient health to the Medical staff and follows up as necessary.
- Assists in educating patients about health problems and medical care.
- Facilitates medication education for new patients and for all other patients starting new medications
- Coordinates with program clinical team as necessary to provide information about patient medical problems
- Documents verbal orders from Medical staff as appropriate
- Observes and administers medications as appropriate
- Conducts waived testing, as needed
Qualifications/Experience:
- Graduated from accredited college with a degree in nursing
- Active RN or LPN license in Georgia
- Minimum of 1 years experience in a chemical dependency/psychiatric setting, preferably in a detoxification environment.
- Experience working with insurance companies, prior authorizations, or medical documentation processes preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, medication management processes, and insurance authorization systems.
- Ability to manage multiple administrative and clinical coordination tasks while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail, particularly related to medical documentation and insurance forms.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, pharmacies, employers, and insurance carriers.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA standards.
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems and medical office software.
- Ability to problem-solve and proactively address barriers to patient care.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach when assisting individuals receiving behavioral health and substance use treatment.
- Understanding of outpatient medical, psychiatric, and substance use treatment environments.
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
