Provides basic nursing and personal care and assistance to residents

Assists with transporting residents to and from the dining area as needed

Assists residents with bedpans, urinals, adult briefs and bathroom hygiene as needed

Turns/re-positions residents that are confined in bed and assists with bed making
-
Assists with maintenance and storage of residents’ clothing and belongings
-
Takes and records residents’ vital signs
-
Cleans a variety of equipment
-
Carries out proper cleansing and cleaning techniques with care for residents

Empties soiled laundry bins and trash cans and performs other housekeeping functions
-
Performs range of motion exercises

Assists with feeding programs and monitors food and liquid intake for nutritional status

Informs Charge Nurse/Lead Nurse of change in residents’ conditions

Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills
-
Ability to interact with residents in a pleasant manner
-
Knowledge of basic medical terminology
-
Knowledge of the general principles and practices of nursing
Minimum Education and Experience
-
High School Diploma or GED
-
Current, unrestricted Virginia Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
-
Completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant Education training program and current unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Nursing; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.

The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients/residents weighing over 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
