The Catholic Community of Saints James, Cornelius & Cyprian (comprising St. James Parish in Mason and Saints Cornelius & Cyprian Oratory in Bunker Hill Township) is now accepting resumes for a part-time (19 hours per week) Communications Coordinator. This is a non-exempt position (hourly) required to work onsite three days per week and reports to the Business Manager.
General Summary
The Communication Coordinator assists with forming a community of missionary disciples by providing clear and timely communications to the members of the parish. This person directs these efforts with technical expertise utilizing a variety of communications tools within a framework of shared ministry.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversight of a parish wide communication and branding strategy for daily use and special projects in electronic and print publications (posters & mailings).
- Primary communication responsibilities include weekly bulletin, website, Mass announcements and parish email communications to keep parishioners up to date.
- In collaboration with staff and ministry leaders, proactively produce communications to key audiences.
- Work collaboratively with pastor, staff, and ministry leaders to keep content up to date, fresh and a tool for evangelization.
- Post and monitor appropriate social media platforms for the parish (such as Facebook, YouTube) and other related social media.
- Upon request, help develop flyers and other media for staff and ministries.
- Maintain messaging on electronic street sign.
- Answer the phones while in the office and perform other related tasks as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or journalism or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience (or equivalent education). Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.); Adobe Suite (Illustrator and InDesign); Canva; MailChimp; and Google/Gmail. Proficient user and developer of social media content. Proficient in print production. Ability to create and edit video with a camera and graphic arts production preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license. Practicing Catholic preferred.
Physical demands include walking, standing, sitting, stooping, and occasionally lifting boxes or bags that weigh up to twenty pounds.
