About the Opportunity
A growing privately held company in the home services/design-build space is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This is a newly created position due to growth and offers the opportunity to work closely with senior accounting leadership while helping strengthen financial reporting, accounting processes, and system improvements.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This role will support month-end close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, payroll, commissions, cash activity, and financial reporting.
The company is also upgrading to a cloud-based ERP system, making this a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys process improvement and systems modernization.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain an accurate general ledger.
- Support and lead month-end close activities, including account analysis and reconciliations.
- Perform balance sheet, bank, and cash reconciliations.
- Calculate, process, and reconcile sales commissions accurately and timely.
- Process payroll and related reconciliations in coordination with internal teams and external providers.
- Post daily cash receipts and perform cash reconciliations and cash flow analysis.
- Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Support ERP implementation, process improvements, and system enhancements.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Assist with annual audits and prepare supporting schedules as needed.
- Collaborate with operations, sales, and leadership to support financial reporting and business initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a Senior Accountant role.
- Strong experience with month-end close, journal entries, general ledger accounting, and reconciliations.
- Experience with payroll processing or payroll-related reconciliations.
- Experience with commission calculations or commission accounting preferred.
- Cash posting, cash reconciliations, and cash analysis experience preferred.
- ERP experience required; Sage or Sage Intacct experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Experience in construction, homebuilding, remodeling, project-based accounting, or related industries is a plus.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
