About Gathering Truth Counseling
Gathering Truth Counseling is a growing private practice in the Birmingham/Hoover area specializing in trauma, ADHD, addictions and mood disorders. We serve adults and older teens of all backgrounds, with a particular commitment to the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, and other underserved populations who deserve affirming, expert care.
We accept most major insurance plans and have an active marketing investment through Therapy Flow to ensure our clinicians have a steady client pipeline from day one.
The Opportunity
We are hiring two fully licensed therapists to join our team as 1099 independent contractors. This is a strong fit for clinicians who want meaningful, autonomous work without the burden of building a caseload from scratch.
Compensation
Contractor Fee Split* (based on collected revenue):
- Early Career: 0 to 3 years post-licensure: 55% to clinician / 45% to practice (~$79,200/yr at 25 sessions/week)
- Mid-Level: 3 to 5 years post-licensure: 60% to clinician / 40% to practice (~$86,400/yr at 25 sessions/week)
- Senior: 5+ years post-licensure: 65% to clinician / 35% to practice (~$93,600/yr at 25 sessions/week)
End-of-Year Bonus Program (eligible after 6 months):
- $500 for every whole number above 20 average weekly sessions over a 48-week work year
- Example: averaging 23 sessions/week = $1,500 bonus
- Fully licensed clinicians only
End-of-Year Bonus Program (eligible after 2 years with company):
- $1000 for every whole number above 20 average weekly sessions over a 48-week work year
- Example: averaging 23 sessions/week = $3,000 bonus
- Fully licensed clinicians only
* Pay estimates based on 25 sessions/week x 48 weeks x $120 average reimbursement rate x clinician split. Actual earnings vary by payer mix and caseload. As a 1099 contractor, you may also deduct business expenses including home office, CE credits, and professional memberships.

- Scheduling autonomy — set your own hours and caseload within agreed parameters
- In-person and telehealth options available (Mandatory 3 Days in office)
- Automatic split advancement at annual review based on experience milestones
Responsibilities
- Carry an individual therapy caseload within your agreed capacity
- Conduct intakes and maintain clinical documentation in TherapyNotes
- Submit session notes in a timely manner
- Maintain your licensure, malpractice insurance, and required continuing education
- Participate in occasional team check-ins (schedule flexible)
Requirements
- Active LPC, LICSW, or LMFT license in Alabama (fully licensed — no provisionally licensed at this time)
- Experience or strong interest in trauma, ADHD, addictions, and/or mood disorders
- Comfortable working with older teens through middle-aged adults
- Genuine commitment to affirming, inclusive care for LGBTQ+, veteran, and minority populations
- Ability to maintain a caseload of insurance-based clients
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- EMDR, CPT, DBT, or other trauma-focused certification
- Experience working with veterans or military families
- Bilingual skills a plus
