Campus Maintenance and Site Steward
Hourly, Part-time
$20/hr, approx 10 hours per week
Position Overview:
Position works with the Executive Director, and other staff members to support the infrastructure and maintenance needs of both the farm and the school. This role ensures the campus remains safe, organized, and functional for our students and staff. Hours are determined by the employee in collaboration with the supervisor and can be very flexible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and administration to address the maintenance needs of the farm and school.
- Maintain and service farm and school equipment, including mowers, gardening tools, fencing, and other essential tools.
- Work collaboratively with the gardener and farmer to meet various site needs such as mowing, weeding, trimming, maintaining pathways, managing gravel, and organizing barns and tools.
- Perform light maintenance on farm and school buildings, including addressing specific projects as needed (larger or more complex tasks will be contracted out).
- Maintain high safety standards across the farm and school grounds, quickly addressing any immediate safety concerns.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of classrooms, school buildings, and outdoor spaces.
Qualifications:
- Experience in maintenance, carpentry, or similar
- Basic knowledge of farm equipment, gardening tools, and general maintenance tasks.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
- Ability to take initiative and adapt to a variety of tasks and challenges.
- Ability to initiate communication and projects independently.
