Job Overview
The staff nurse acts as a resource to referral sources and community home health agencies on issues related to infusion therapies provided to patients by the franchised pharmacy. The staff nurse, as permitted by state licensure regulations, may also provide direct patient care to infusion therapy patients, and is responsible to assess actual and potential patient problems, as well as planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in coordination with the registered pharmacist. The staff nurse has an active patient education role, and interacts extensively with the pharmacy staff to plan and implement patient scheduling, deliveries, and clinical assessment. The infusion nurse may have the expanded clinical practice of inserting PICC lines. Additional qualifications must be satisfied to perform this invasive procedure. This position reports to the Nurse Manager.
Responsibilities
- Administer IV infusions, medications, and fluids accurately following established protocols and aseptic techniques
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review
- Prepare and maintain detailed medical documentation within electronic medica record (EMR) system
- Educate patients on infusion procedures, medication side effects, and post-treatment care to promote understanding and compliance
- Monitor patients closely during infusion therapy for adverse reactions or complications, implementing emergency protocols as needed
- Collaborate with PIC to develop personalized treatment plans that meet individual patient needs
- Maintain sterile environments through proper care and adherence to infection control standards
Qualifications
- Required: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in good standing with the State Board of Nursing
- Required: A minimum of three (3) years clinical experience
- Required: a minimum of one (1) year experience in acute care or alternate site IV therapy
- Required: Excellent interactive skills with employees, physicians, referral sources, and consumers
- Required for PICC Insertion RNs: Personal liability insurance with additional training premium. Expanded clinical practice in the insertion of PICC lines includes: state board of nursing scope of practice compliance, completion of an INS approved PICC course, clinical shadowing experience with an active PICC team when possible, and participation in an INS accepted infusion standard PICC preceptorship program with the supervision of no less than eight (8) PICC’s.
- Preferred: IV certification (i.e., CRNI) or other infusion-related certification
- Preferred: Nursing management experience

Pay: $65.00 - $75.00 per hour

- clinical: 3 years (Required)
