JOB
Under the direction of the Fire Chief, fights fires, assists in and performs emergency medical and rescue work; participates in fire prevention, station maintenance, cooking, cleaning, and training activities; mitigates hazardous material incidents; performs related duties as required in addition the paramedic assignment includes providing advance life support care to injured or critically ill victims. Paramedics examine, evaluate, and treat patient conditions; communicate patient conditions to the base station.

MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED supplemented by graduation from a State Certified Fire Academy required.
License/Certification:
- Valid California Class C drivers or Class C Firefighter license and insurable on company policy.
- Driving record in compliance with company policy.
- Valid California Ambulance Driver’s License (from DMV) or able to obtain within 180 days of employment.
- Valid Medical Examiner’s Card (from DMV) or able to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Hazardous Materials First Responder Operational (FRO) Certificate or obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Valid Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic Certification (EMT-P)
- Valid American Heart Association or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider level CPR certification.
- California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) Firefighter Academy Certificate.
- Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or RHEART equivalent.
- Valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Valid International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) / (PHTLS) certification.
- Valid Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority REMSA Accreditation or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
