QUALIFICATIONS
Academic: Minimum - High School Diploma/GED
Other: 6 months’ experience working with children/adolescents preferred; demonstrated computer literacy; acceptable written/oral skills; able to respond appropriately to the cultural differences among A Place of Hope service population; possess the ability to work in partnership with other team members; able to set limits while maintaining the helping role. Must also have a valid driver’s license and car insurance.
JOB PURPOSE
S/He will have an understanding of the physical, mental, behavioral, and emotional impacts of trauma on the youth. The staff of the program will demonstrate a strong commitment to providing trauma-informed services within the residential setting and are responsible for the overall implementation of policies, procedures, and the daily activity schedule while providing quality, effective, and efficient interventions to the youth in the program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Understands the physical, mental, behavioral, and emotional impacts of trauma and how they may be manifested in the daily behaviors of the residents.
2. Assures the safety of residents and the security of the program by providing supervision to the residents in the home.
3. Implements the daily schedule as written, ensuring that residents attend all scheduled activities, and encouraging their active participation in all activities while role modeling appropriate behavior.
4. Facilitates educational and life skills groups as required.
5. Completes all daily residential documentation including but not limited to shift progress notes, shift reports, telephone log, point sheets, weekly residential forms, and monthly provisions of care.
6. Ensures that all rights of the residents are followed and provides feedback to the supervisor on any issues or incidents that might affect resident rights.
7. Uses de-escalation techniques to reduce resident crisis and promote improved problem-solving / coping skills.
8. Ensures quality care by updating other staff regarding the resident’s progress and individual needs.
9. May provide transportation, which may include medical and court appointments, off-ground activities, and home visits.
10. Must have the ability to remain calm and levelheaded in crises as well as effectively set limits with oppositional residents. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to support another adult’s weight, twist, and turn, and engage in intense physical exertion.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
1. The Youth Leaders report directly to the Shift Leader. In the absence of the Shift Leader, Youth Leaders will report to the Program Director.
2. The Youth Leader may supervise the volunteers / Interns
3. The Youth Leader may be asked to take direction from the Program Administrator, and LSW, as needed.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
