Who we are
At Lamplighter Montessori School, we foster a lifelong love of learning through authentic Montessori education. Our Lower Elementary program (ages 6–9) provides a nurturing, engaging environment where children develop independence, confidence, critical thinking skills, and respect for themselves and others.
As we expand our Elementary program, we are seeking a dedicated Montessori Lower Elementary Teacher Assistant to join our teaching team.
Position Summary
This role works closely with the lead teacher to support students, maintain the prepared environment, and help create a positive, respectful classroom community. The ideal candidate enjoys working with elementary-aged children and is committed to supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in maintaining a calm, organized Montessori classroom.
- Support students in independent and small-group learning activities.
- Encourage independence, responsibility, and positive social interactions.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain classroom materials and learning spaces.
- Observe and support children's academic and social-emotional development.
- Assist with classroom routines, outdoor activities, field trips, and special events.
- Collaborate with colleagues and communicate professionally with families.
- Participate in staff meetings, school events, and professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in an educational setting.
- Montessori experience or training is a plus.
- Understanding of child development and a commitment to Montessori principles.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification.
- Ability to pass a background check.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $35,000–$50,000 annually, based on experience
