Director, Land Services & Administration
S&J Land Administration Services is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Land Services & Administration to lead our Land Administration Group within Steptoe & Johnson Energy Department. This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished land professional to combine leadership, technical expertise, client service, and business development while working alongside one of the nation's leading energy law practices.
The successful candidate will: Lead and manage land administration projects and personnel; Oversee lease and contract administration, ownership interests, division orders, and land records; Support acquisition and divestiture due diligence; Analyze and manage complex data using land management systems, Excel, AI tools, and automation; Develop client reports, workflows, and process improvements; Build client relationships, support business development, and assist with RFPs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Energy Land Management, Business, Finance, or related field (MBA or JD preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive land administration or land services leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of oil and gas land administration, lease analysis, contracts, and due diligence
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Microsoft Access, AI tools, and land management software (Quorum preferred)
- Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, and project management skills
- Professional certifications (CPL, RPL, CPLTA, CDOA) and active involvement in industry organizations are a plus.
This position is a hybrid/office-based opportunity. Some overnight travel is required; a valid driver's license is required.
Salary Range: $129,495 - $200,717
This position is eligible for a discretionary end of year bonus.
