John Wheeler CDL School in Mesa, AZ is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our team as a Part-Time Evening CDL Instructor (Classroom). You'll teach the theory and knowledge side of CDL training in our classroom during evening hours — helping new drivers build the foundation they need before they ever get behind the wheel. No prior instructing experience? No problem — we provide comprehensive training. This is part-time now, with the opportunity to move to full-time.
You don't have to be a current CDL holder — if you previously held a Class A CDL for years and lost or let it lapse no more than 3 years ago, you're encouraged to apply.

- Must have held a Class A CDL — current, OR previously held and lapsed no more than 3 years ago
- Minimum 2 years of Class A commercial driving experience — required (federal FMCSA standard, no exceptions)
- Clean CDL history — cannot have had a DL cancelled, suspended, or revoked for a disqualifying offense in the last 2 years
- Must be able to obtain a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
- No instructing experience needed — we'll train you
- Strong knowledge of CDL general knowledge, air brakes, and combination vehicle material
- Friendly, patient, and respectful — able to keep students engaged and create a positive, welcoming learning environment for everyone
- Professional and inclusive conduct at all times — zero tolerance for rude, discriminatory, or disrespectful behavior toward any student or team member
- Excellent communication skills — able to instruct diverse learners effectively
- Reliable, consistent evening availability — this role requires dependability

Pay: $25.00 per hour
