Job Description
Zhang CPA Group LLC, a fast-growing CPA firm with offices in Lexington and Acton, Massachusetts, is seeking a part-time Staff Accountant to support accounting, tax preparation, client service, and administrative work.
The ideal candidate should be majoring in Accounting or Taxation, detail-oriented, organized, and able to communicate clearly with clients. This role is suitable for someone who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in public accounting, tax preparation, QuickBooks, and client-facing accounting services.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining daily accounting records, including general ledger account inputs and journal entry updates in QuickBooks.
- Analyze and reconcile client accounting records, including bank statement reconciliations.
- Prepare individual, corporation, and partnership tax returns.
- Assist in researching accounting and tax issues using accounting and tax research tools.
- Assist with administrative work, including processing tax returns, billing work, and organizing client files.
- Support clients with patience, empathy, and clear explanations of tax and accounting matters.
- Translate technical tax language into plain, easy-to-understand terms for clients.
- Follow checklists, controls, and documented procedures to ensure accurate and consistent work.
Qualifications
- Majoring in Accounting or Taxation.
- Work authorization required; H-1B sponsorship is not available.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to explain complex tax topics clearly and patiently.
- Strong listening skills and ability to communicate technical information in simple terms.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to quickly learn new tax rules, internal processes, and software tools.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- QuickBooks and tax preparation software experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Chinese is preferred.
- Prior accounting, tax, bookkeeping, or CPA firm experience.
- Experience with QuickBooks.
- Experience preparing or assisting with individual, corporate, or partnership tax returns.
- Familiarity with tax preparation software.
