The Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department is looking for a School Nurse to serve students at Lake Ann Elementary School and Betsie Valley Elementary School in Benzie County.
As a school nurse, you'll be an important part of the school community - helping students stay healthy, safe, and ready to learn. You'll have the opportunity to use your nursing expertise in a variety of ways, including:
- Developing and supporting care plans for students with chronic health conditions
- Assessing and providing basic first aid and care for ill or injured students
- Helping schools meet requirements related to communicable disease and immunization reporting
- Promoting healthy habits and wellness throughout the school community
- Providing health education to support students, families, and school staff
- Assisting families in connecting to community resources
- Training school staff to appropriately respond to students' health needs
- Building strong, collaborative relationships with students, parents, teachers, administrators and community partners

What We're Looking For:
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse license.
- Nursing experience in pediatrics, school nursing, community health nursing, or related field.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school and health department teams.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
- A genuine interest in promoting the health and well-being of children and families.
What We Offer:
- 4-day work week - approximately 30 hours/week
- $34-$41/hour
- No weekends or holidays
- Work only when school is in session (off on snow days, spring/winter/summer break, school holidays, etc)
- A supportive team of school nurses
- Paid sick time accrued in accordance with the Michigan Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA)
Important: Funding for this position is currently secured through the end of the 26-27 school year (June 2027). Employment beyond June 2027 is not guaranteed and will depend on future funding.
