The Maintenance Painter Mechanic I position requires entry-level skills and knowledge in maintenance and construction trades. This role performs painting and general construction work throughout the hospital, hospital grounds, and outlying facilities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general building and grounds maintenance; painting; drywall repair and installation; carpet and floor tile work; preventive maintenance; and the repair of minor mechanical equipment and systems.
The Maintenance Painter Mechanic I may assist Mechanic II and Mechanic III personnel in the performance of maintenance and repair activities as needed. This position requires the ability to interact professionally and courteously with patients, visitors, and staff while working in a healthcare environment that serves individuals of all ages.
Work may involve exposure to biological hazards commonly associated with hospital facilities and maintenance operations. The incumbent may be required to participate as a member of an emergency response team, serve on committees or process improvement teams, and report to work during emergency situations, including hurricanes and other natural disasters.
Work hours are established by the Maintenance Director and may vary based on departmental and operational needs.

Education/Certification:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Related trade school training is desirable.
A valid drivers license is required
Must be familiar with the hazards and applicable safety precautions required in industrial maintenance enviornment
A working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and DFS standards and regulations as well as state and local building codes may also be required
Experience:
1-3 years of painting experience is desirable
Hospital experience is desirable
