This position will: Ensure that accurate and clinically relevant information is communicated with patients, their families, and co-workers at hand offs and other times as needed. Take all measures necessary to ensure that the appropriate and involved parties have communicated necessary information in order to allow for the best possible patient outcome. Properly identify patients and samples during the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Perform analyses on a variety of biological specimens, including blood, urine, stool, body fluids and tissues. Perform, evaluate, and document calibration and quality control; resolve issues as needed. Maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with assays and instruments. Follow laboratory procedures for test analysis, test reporting, and maintaining records of patient results. Communicate effectively and professionally with physicians, nurses, other medical personnel, patients, and families. Prioritize workload to ensure timely reporting of results. Maintain and improve skills by participating in at least one continuing education activity annually. Actively seek and identify opportunities for process improvement. Assist in procedure writing, updating, and validating. Act as a resource for laboratory medicine information to providers and others. Use laboratory information system access information, enter results, and generate reports.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field.
ASCP, IMLS, MLS(ASCPi), NCA, AMT, MT (AMT) or MT (HEW) certification required.
Must be willing to work nightshift (9pm -7:30am) and day shifts/weekends/holidays/call as needed
