We Are Looking for a New Team Member
You didn't get an electrical engineering degree to spend your career redlining the same panel schedules. If you're a licensed or license-track EE with 3-5 years in AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) and you're looking for your next move or looking to specialize in something with real staying power, this is worth a look.
Vantage Technology Consulting Group is seeking an electrical engineer to join our Design and Engineering team as an IT Infrastructure Consultant. This role designs low-voltage technology systems, structured cabling, RTLS, nurse call, DAS/ERRCS, for healthcare, education, and commercial buildings, working directly with clients, architects, and project teams. Think of it as trading breaker sizing for building intelligence. Candidates bring a BS in Electrical Engineering and AEC design experience; you already know how to read a drawing set and coordinate with architects. Vantage will provide training, mentorship, and certification support (including RCDD) to build the low-voltage specialty on top of that engineering foundation.
What You Will DoWe want you to use your electrical engineering skills to work alongside our team members to deliver technology design solutions across projects in healthcare, education, and commercial sectors. Over your first 6–12 months you will ramp from supporting to leading project tasks, with structured mentorship throughout. In particular, you will:· Project Delivery
o Work within a project team to understand client needs, goals, and each client's Basis of Design standards, scope, budget, and schedule.
o Shadow, then independently conduct, project needs assessments and client consulting meetings.
o Learn and eventually provide design services for healthcare technology systems, including:
§ Structured Cabling systems, including Cat 6A and optical fiber cabling systems
§ Real Time Location Systems (RTLS)
§ Patient Engagement Systems (aka patient television)
§ Nurse Call and Code Alarm Systems
§ Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and Emergency Responder Radio Communications Systems (ERRCS)
§ Other healthcare low voltage systems (such as clocks, elapsed timers, P-Tube, refrigerator monitoring, etc.)
o Work with our production team to create construction packages and/or provide Bluebeam markups.
o Work with the other designers and subject matter experts within the firm to coordinate work and standards as required for each project.
o Assist with writing specifications and technology design narratives for the trade(s) you are designing.
o Attend meetings with clients and architects to discuss project needs, timelines, and technical specifications.
o Interpret architectural drawings/specifications, models, and construction documents.
o Participate in the QA/QC process for your work and the work of team members.
o As part of a project team, answer and review construction submittals and RFIs (requests for information) from general contractors and other entities.
o Develop and maintain client and industry-peer relationships.
o Pursue RCDD and other relevant certifications, supported by the firm, and continue to develop technical and consulting skillsets.
· Practice and Business Development
o Begin building relationships with clients, architects, and industry peers through project work and firm-sponsored events
o Participate in industry conferences and organizations, with the goal of growing your professional network and market awareness
o Contribute to client satisfaction and retention on active projects, recognizing that strong project delivery is the foundation of repeat work and referrals
o Support proposal development for pursuits, including contributing to scopes of work and fee structures under senior staff guidance
· People and Team Development
o Share your electrical engineering experience and knowledge by mentoring more junior team members.
o Seek out mentorship from senior staff and begin informally supporting the development of more junior team members
o Actively contribute to a culture of quality, curiosity, and continuous improvement within the Vantage team
o Maintain relevant industry certifications and pursue new ones that align with your growing area of focus
