Job Summary
We are seeking energetic and dedicated CDL-certified drivers to join our team as Local and Regional Drivers. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting freight, including refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, and specialty cargo such as flatbed and tanker loads, across local and regional routes. Your expertise in commercial truck driving, route navigation, and cargo handling will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks on local, regional, or over-the-road (OTR) routes, adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring proper cargo securement for transportation of freight including hazardous materials and dangerous goods.
- Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to meet delivery schedules while optimizing route planning for fuel efficiency and time management.
- Transport refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or specialty equipment as required for various types of freight such as automobile transportation or logistics cargo handling.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for compliance with hazardous materials regulations when applicable.
- Deliver freight accurately to designated locations while providing excellent customer service during drop-offs and pickups.
- Maintain detailed records of deliveries, cargo documentation, and compliance with DOT regulations.
Requirements
- Valid CDL license with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle operated
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, delivery driving, or freight transportation with a focus on route driving.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, DOT rules, and safety protocols related to truck loading/unloading and manual handling.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks and specialized equipment such as refrigerated trailers or flatbeds.
- Strong navigation skills using GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning across local and regional routes.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with all federal and state transportation laws.
- Physical ability to load/unload cargo manually when necessary; capable of handling heavy freight safely.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends or extended hours based on route demands.
