A typical day as a Substitute Custodian at Griffin Spalding County Schools begins with reporting to your assigned school and checking in with the facilities coordinator or school administration to receive your assignment for the day. You'll spend your morning sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing hallways, classrooms, restrooms, and common areas to ensure the building is clean and ready for students and staff. Throughout the day, you'll respond to spill cleanups, restock supplies, and perform routine maintenance tasks as needed. You'll also assist in building and grounds security by ensuring all doors and gates are properly secured throughout the day and at the end of your shift. As the school day winds down, you'll conduct a thorough cleaning of all assigned areas, empty trash receptacles, and prepare the facility for the following day. On occasion, you may be called in for evening or weekend shifts to support special school events, requiring flexibility and a can-do attitude. Success in this role is measured by the cleanliness and safety of the facilities you maintain and the positive relationships you build with school staff and administration.
