Metro Chicago Surgical Oncology located in Wilmette, IL has an opening for a Certified Radiation Therapist (Full-Time, Part-Time, PRN).
Responsibilities:
Accurately delivers the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy with minimal supervision; check prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient identification.
Explains procedure to patient; reinforce Radiation Oncologist's advice to patient regarding reactions to treatment and their care.
Prepares room and equipment for patient according to prescription regarding immobilization.
Delivers prescribed dose. Maintains visual and audible communication with the patient during treatment. Maintains patient’s markings. Observe patient for unusual reactions and events and report accurate information to the Radiation staff and/or Radiation Oncologist.
Observes radiation safety measures for patient and personnel; performs CT simulations.
Assists in tumor localization procedures as well as preparation of immobilization devices, etc. Performs and documents daily accelerator warm-up and QA procedures.
Maintains records of daily treatment and other records as required by department quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Our ideal candidate would be certified in Radiation Therapy, a graduate of an accredited radiation therapy program, and have excellent communication skills. Candidates should have a strong background in Varian Machines, OBI, IMRT, IGRT, and Aria 10.
