Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cath Lab Technologist to join our dynamic cardiovascular team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in interventional radiology and cardiology procedures, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. As a Cath Lab Technologist, you will be responsible for supporting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the catheterization laboratory, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence. Your expertise will contribute to accurate diagnostics, effective treatment planning, and optimal patient outcomes.
Duties
- Prepare the catheterization laboratory for procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
- Assist physicians during interventional radiology, cardiac catheterization, and interventional cardiology procedures by operating imaging equipment and managing patient monitoring systems.
- Monitor vital signs continuously, including blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and other physiological parameters to ensure patient stability throughout procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent infection and uphold safety standards during all invasive interventions.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing sonography (ultrasound) and other imaging modalities to assist in accurate procedure execution.
- Support physicians in performing complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization, angiography, and other minimally invasive interventions within the cath lab setting.
- Document procedural details meticulously, including physiological data, procedural steps, and patient responses for accurate medical records.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of anatomy relevant to cardiovascular interventions and physiology principles critical for interpreting imaging results.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams at Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers to provide comprehensive care during emergency interventions involving trauma patients.
Requirements
- Certification as a Radiologic Technologist or Cardiovascular Technologist with specialized training in cath lab procedures in the state of Louisiana.
- Proven experience working within a cath lab environment, preferably at a Level I or Level II trauma center with exposure to emergency medicine scenarios.
- Strong knowledge of interventional radiology techniques, cardiac catheterization processes, and diagnostic evaluation methods.
- Proficiency in vital signs monitoring, aseptic technique application, and anatomy knowledge related to cardiovascular systems.
- Familiarity with sonography (ultrasound) technology for diagnostic purposes during interventions.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology relevant to cardiology and radiology disciplines.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in high-stakes environments while maintaining attention to detail and patient safety standards.
