Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our dynamic dealership team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking vehicle maintenance and repair services, ensuring a seamless experience from intake to service completion. This role requires strong communication skills, automotive knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Prior dealership experience and familiarity with auto service management are highly valued.
Duties
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, assessing their vehicle service needs
- Explain repair and maintenance procedures clearly, providing accurate estimates using auto estimating tools
- Write detailed service orders and maintain thorough documentation of all work performed
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of services
- Upsell additional services or repairs that benefit the customer while meeting dealership sales goals
- Manage cash handling transactions accurately and process payments efficiently
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and foster repeat business
- Maintain knowledge of current automotive repair techniques, including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, suspension, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, air brake systems, alignment, and auto body repair
- Stay informed about new automotive technologies and diagnostic procedures to better assist customers
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or auto service management background
- Strong understanding of automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and vehicle maintenance procedures
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Ability to upsell services tactfully while prioritizing customer needs
- Experience with auto estimating software and service writing processes
- Knowledge of automotive repairs including transmissions, oil changes, brake systems, suspensions, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts, alignments, and auto body repairs
- Mechanical aptitude combined with service technician experience is a plus
- Sales skills with a focus on automobile sales and service recommendations
- Cash handling proficiency and attention to detail in transaction processing
