Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Quoting Specialist to join our team and drive the success of our construction projects through accurate and competitive estimating. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive project quotes, analyzing project requirements, and collaborating with clients and internal teams to ensure precise cost management. Your expertise will help streamline the bidding process, improve project profitability, and foster strong client relationships. Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications to develop detailed project estimates.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and other industry tools to prepare accurate cost proposals for electrical systems and construction projects.
- Analyze material costs, labor requirements, and subcontractor bids to create comprehensive budgets aligned with client expectations and project scope.
- Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure all estimates comply with electrical building codes, NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEC standards, and NFPA regulations for electrical safety.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to review project requirements, clarify scope changes, and refine estimates accordingly.
- Manage cost control throughout the bidding process by monitoring material costs, labor estimates, and overall budget adherence.
- Prepare detailed proposals that include pricing breakdowns, scope of work summaries, and risk assessments to support decision-making processes.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all estimate revisions, correspondence, and contractual negotiations for transparency and future reference.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on electrical systems or electrical estimating preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction industry practices, including reading construction drawings, electrical blueprints, and schematics.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid; experience with Bluebeam is a plus.
- Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 compliance standards, and electrical building codes relevant to construction projects.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and blueprints accurately while assessing project scope for cost estimation purposes.
- Solid understanding of cost management principles including material cost estimating, cost control strategies, and budget forecasting.
- Experience in construction site management or construction management is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication tasks.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in reviewing construction drawings and managing multiple estimates simultaneously.
