Join our team as a Painter with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Services to be performed at the North Texas VA Medical Center located in Dallas, TX. This is a contract/locum assignment with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Duties include:
- General painting for new construction, remodel projects and renovations such as redecorating offices, wards, corridors, dining halls/rooms, living quarters and shop buildings.
- Paint and refinish furniture, wood and metal such as desks, cabinets, chairs, operating room and laundry equipment.
- Glazing, caulking of windows on air-conditioning equipment, cutting and installing glass.
- Coordinates with interior designer on wall coverings and paint beds.
- Cut stencils, paint signs, blend and mix colors.
- Assist in marking streets
- Cleaning and caring for equipment
- Prepare surfaces by smoothing with spackling and joint compound, filling, shaping and mixing, and applying pre-coating agents.
- Prepare coating materials by tinting, toning, matching, blending and mixing various additives.
Schedule: Full-time, 8A-4:30P Mon-Fri. Overtime on a case-by-case basis. No weekends or federal holidays.
Period of Performance: 6-month base period 8/4/2026-2/3/2027 with one additional 6-month option available through 8/4/2027.
Qualifications:
- Education. High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Licensure and certification. OSHA certification required.
- Training. Required to complete safety and basic VA training provided by the facility prior to starting.
- Experience. Prior experience as a painter preferred.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). All Carpenters providing services under this contract must wear:
- Arc-rated or natural fiber long pants and long sleeve shirt.
- OSHA approved steel toed foot gear (work-boots)
- Hearing protection
- Eye protection
- English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- Subject to background/security investigation.
- Must pass TB test.
- Complete an online onboarding process.
- Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Our provider network consists of over 700 providers in various medical specialties and degree types. They conduct diagnostic-only examination services on an as-needed basis. These services may take place in their private office, established clinics located across the country, or during travel opportunities for group screening events.
