The role
We are looking for an experienced, passionate Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher who brings deep knowledge of the RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers) philosophy as developed by Magda Gerber. This position is responsible for closing the school at 6:00 PM.
What you'll do
Lead a warm, RIE-inspired infant/toddler classroom that honors each child's pace, autonomy, and individuality
Practice respectful caregiving — including uninterrupted play, free movement, and authentic communication with the youngest learners
Design and maintain a thoughtfully prepared Montessori environment for infants and toddlers
Observe children carefully and use those observations to guide curriculum and care
Build trusting, communicative partnerships with families
Manage end-of-day routines and close the school at 6:00 PM, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized environment
Collaborate with school leadership and fellow educators to build our community culture
Requirements
At least 12 units (California Title 22 / Title 5)
Preferred demonstrated knowledge of and experience with RIE philosophy (Magda Gerber)
Familiarity with Montessori principles and prepared environment practices
Minimum 12 ECE units; infant/toddler units required
CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
Availability to work a closing shift ending at 6:00 PM
Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit
Preferred qualifications
RIE Associates training or coursework
Montessori certification (AMI or AMS) or coursework
Experience in a mixed-age or looping infant/toddler classroom
