JOB
This is skilled work operating specialized automotive equipment. Work usually includes servicing and making minor repairs to equipment operated. This person may act as crew leader over a small number of employees to accomplish specific tasks or assignments. A supervisor gives general directions in routine tasks and special instructions when changes are made in established procedures.
The day and hours for this position: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
Multiple Locations availability. The exact location will be determined at hire.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Operates tractors and trucks with special attached equipment such as power loaders, backhoes, winches, snow plows, and other attachments used for varied maintenance purposes.

Operates special equipment used in pavement markings.

Directs and participates in the operation of a hot asphalt plant.

Operates equipment in performing street or airport maintenance work, such as rollers, oil distributors, loaders, pavement breakers, and screed machine.

Operates a truck and leads a maintenance crew in maintaining, repairing and cleaning streets and airport surfaces.

Performs mechanical maintenance and service work on equipment operated.

May act as a backup operator or assistant to an Equipment Operator III.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Required Experience and Training

One year of experience in the operation of automotive or specialized equipment used in construction or maintenance activities.

A valid Kansas Driver’s License

A valid Class A Commercial Driver License with a Tanker endorsement and within 60 days from hire. If you are a Canadian or Mexican citizen, you will be required to have or obtain a CDL from your home country.

Preferred Experience and Training
Please note that this position is part of a random drug testing pool, and employees are subject to random drug testing in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a criminal record check. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement.
