Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our clinical research and diagnostic laboratory team. Duties
- Conduct laboratory tests including ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), PCR (polymerase chain reaction), flow cytometry, immunoassays, and clinical chemistry testing with precision and adherence to protocols.
- Perform specimen collection, processing, blood sampling, venipuncture, and blood banking procedures following aseptic techniques and safety standards.
- Manage data related to laboratory experiments and clinical trials using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Operate and maintain medical laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, analyzers, microscopes, and other diagnostic instruments while adhering to quality control protocols.
- Implement laboratory quality control procedures to ensure compliance with CLIA regulations (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) and hospital standards.
- Assist in the interpretation of diagnostic test results by applying knowledge of physiology, anatomy, hematology, microbiology, and clinical chemistry.
- Support laboratory management by maintaining inventory of reagents, supplies, and medical equipment; ensuring proper storage conditions; and documenting maintenance activities.
- Follow strict safety protocols during specimen collection/processing and adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals on blood sampling procedures, vital signs monitoring, and specimen handling for accurate diagnosis.
- Contribute to research projects by executing experimental protocols related to molecular biology techniques such as RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and other molecular assays.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or a related field; relevant certifications or licensure preferred.
- Extensive experience in clinical or research laboratory settings with proficiency in laboratory techniques including ELISA, PCR, flow cytometry, hematology testing, microbiology testing, and immunoassays.
- Strong understanding of laboratory management systems such as LIMS or LIS; experience with medical laboratory information systems is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of CLIA regulations and experience implementing laboratory quality control protocols.
- Familiarity with specimen collection methods including venipuncture (phlebotomy), blood banking procedures, and specimen processing.
- Ability to operate complex medical laboratory equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining detailed records.
- Excellent data analysis skills with attention to detail; ability to interpret diagnostic test results accurately.
- Good understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology principles, and clinical chemistry concepts.
- Prior hospital or clinical laboratory experience involving blood sampling, vital signs monitoring, microbiology testing, or cytotechnology is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
