The Troopers and Employee Assistance Program (TEAP) Criminal Investigator III position falls within the Support Section of the Louisiana State Police. More specifically, the position is contained within the Training Academy under the supervision of the TEAP Lieutenant/Program Director. TEAP is a specialized team focused on providing peer support, critical incident stress management (CISM), and mental health resources to law enforcement and first responders. It emphasizes suicide intervention, training for personnel, and specialized support, distinguishing it from operational policing units. The TEAP Criminal Investigator 3 provides statewide support for the Troopers and Employees Assistance Program by assisting the Program Director with mental health and wellness initiatives, training, and logistical coordination. This role involves responding to high-profile investigations involving department personnel to identify those in need of support, while also managing data collection, fundraising through grants, and program quality control.

Two years of experience in investigatory work while employed as a commissioned law enforcement officer plus one of the following:
Two years of experience in law enforcement, investigatory work or military intelligence work; OR
Twelve hours in law enforcement or a criminal justice field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
An applicant will be disqualified if he or she has been convicted of a felony or if there are any indictments or bills of information pending against him or her in which felony charges are included; or if he or she has been convicted within the past three years of hit and run or driving while intoxicated.

Job Duties:
As a TEAP Criminal Investigator 3, your week will involve a mix of investigative work, training, and program management.
Investigative Duties (40% of your time): Conduct thorough investigations involving the Department of Public Safety (DPS) personnel. Collaborate with colleagues to navigate critical incidents, ensuring proper protocols are followed. Analyze data and evaluate the well-being of personnel involved in critical situations.
Program Directorship (30% of your time): Lead the TEAP Program, coordinating training sessions and logistical support for DPS employees. Engage with wellness programs, offering support resources for mental health and trauma-informed care.
Data Management and Reporting (10% of your time): Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness. Prepare reports detailing program outcomes and employee feedback.
Training and Quality Control (15% of your time): Travel to various DPS locations and ensure the continuity of wellness and training programs. Implement best practices in program delivery and streamline internal processes.
Work Environment (5% of your time): You'll work in physically comfortable locations, engaging in tasks like sitting, standing, or walking. Flexibility is key, as there may be varying shifts and locations based on operational needs.
