Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to instruct students in state-approved Career and Technical Education (CTE) elective courses within designated program areas. The teacher will facilitate student development of industry-aligned technical proficiency, 21st-century employability skills, and academic integration. The instructor will guide students in exploring relevant career pathways, developing individual post-secondary plans (such as the High School and Beyond Plan), and obtaining industry-recognized credentials where applicable.
Required Qualifications:
- Teaching Certification: Valid Washington State Teaching Certification or eligibility for CTE conditional/probational certification
- CTE Certification: Valid Washington State CTE Certification/endorsement
- Skills and ability to manage the day-to-day activities of Paraeducators
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, possess awareness (for self and others), listen actively, be patient, incorporate humor/lightheartedness into work, be empathic, customer-service oriented, and maintain professionalism in challenging situations
- Ability to be self-directed while working with a high degree of collaboration
- Successful experience creating organizational systems able to flexibly respond to changing student needs
- Proven ability to function in a calm, efficient, courteous manner under stress and to exercise careful judgment, confidentiality, and tact in the performance of duties; ability to act in an ethical and confidential manner in all aspects of employment
- Successful experience establishing and maintaining professional relationships with students, co-workers, and administration including serving as an integral member of a highly collaborative PLC team
- Ability and willingness to reflect, learn, and grow continually
- Ability to support the District’s Vision, Mission, and Goals including the belief that all students can succeed

Essential Functions for this Position: CTE – Career Choices
- Curriculum & Framework Alignment: Ensure that the instructional content aligns to at least 80% of the state-approved CTE Program Frameworks, maintaining and updating these frameworks annually to reflect industry developments.
- Career Exploration & Guidance: Provide information and structured experiences that expose students equally to all post-secondary pathways (e.g., skilled trades, military, certificates, and degree programs) and support components of the High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP).
- Industry Relevancy & Alignment: Maintain an up-to-date awareness of high-demand, high-wage jobs at local, regional, state, and global levels; integrate local employers and industry guest speakers to illuminate local career opportunities.
- Leadership & 21st Century Skills: Integrate leadership development and 21st-century employability skills directly into daily classroom instruction, activities, and project-based learning.
- CTSO Leadership: Serve as an advisor for or maintain an active, state-recognized Career & Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that participates and competes at the regional, state, and/or national level.
- Advisory Committee Engagement: Coordinate and meet three or more times annually with a dedicated Program Advisory Committee composed of local business and industry partners to secure valuable program feedback and input.
Essential Functions of All Teachers:
- Safe Classroom: Create a safe physical and emotional space for students to engage in rigorous academic learning
- Reinforce Policies: Actively support and reinforce school/district policies and procedures
- Classroom Discipline: Create a classroom management system aligned to schoolwide approach: 1) Clearly define behavior expectations 2) Consistently communicate and enforce behavior expectations 3) Address breakdowns of expectations privately with students 4) Approach discipline as an opportunity to teach/reinforce expectations with the goal of changing behavior
- PLCs: Collaborate in Professional Learning Communities with colleagues
- Attendance: Record accurate and timely attendance aligned with school/district policies and procedures
- Grading: Maintain accurate and timely grades with the primary purpose to communicate students’ progress towards understanding learning targets
- Communication: Maintain timely and professional lines of communication with students, families, staff, and building administration;
- Special Services: Ensure classroom practices align with students’ individual IEPs, 504s, EL Plans, or other specialized plans as appropriate
- Technology: Be able to utilize the technology in the classroom to enhance instruction and engage students
- SIP Support: Actively support all aspects of the School Improvement Plan
- District Support: Actively support the District’s mission, vision, and goals
- Building Support: Other duties as assigned
Salary: $33,346.67 -$66,773.35 Depending on experience
Work Schedule: .5 FTE (187 days per school year- 3.75 Hours per day)
