We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Controller to join our leadership team.
The Controller will oversee the company’s accounting and financial operations, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective financial controls. This position plays a key leadership role in supporting executive management with accurate financial data, operational analysis, and strategic decision-making.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, construction or project-based accounting experience, and the ability to improve processes within a growing organization.
Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and participate in random screenings throughout employment.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial statement preparation
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses
- Develop and maintain internal financial controls and accounting procedures
Leadership & Strategic Support
- Partner with executive leadership to support strategic planning and operational decision-making
- Provide financial insights, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis
- Assist in developing financial models and KPI reporting to improve business performance
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiencies
Cash Management & Banking
- Oversee cash flow management, banking relationships, and treasury functions
- Monitor company liquidity and support working capital planning
- Manage bank reconciliations and financing activities
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Payroll Oversight
- Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and invoicing functions to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Support billing operations, collections, and customer invoicing processes
- Ensure payroll processes are compliant and properly controlled
Compliance & Risk Management
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial institutions
- Assist with insurance, bonding, and compliance reporting requirements
- Ensure proper accounting treatment of leases, fixed assets, and capital expenditures
Expense & Cost Management
- Monitor company expenditures and budget performance
- Implement policies and controls to improve cost management and accountability
- Support project cost tracking and profitability analysis
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA designation preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience
- Prior Controller or senior-level accounting leadership experience preferred
- Construction, utility, or project-based accounting experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
