Position Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive eye examinations for patients of all ages.
- Diagnose and manage refractive errors, ocular diseases, and vision disorders.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and vision-enhancing treatments.
- Manage conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, dry eye syndrome, and other ocular health concerns within the scope of optometric practice.
- Co-manage pre-operative and post-operative ophthalmic surgical patients.
- Collaborate closely with ophthalmologists regarding specialty referrals and complex patient care.
- Educate patients on eye health, disease prevention, and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation within the electronic health record.
Qualifications
Required
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Eligibility for Louisiana optometry licensure.
- Strong clinical and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork.
Preferred
- Previous clinical experience in medical optometry.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Interest in collaborative surgical co-management and specialty eye care.
