The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® is a popular “California born and brewed” family-run specialty coffee and tea retailer that was brought to Hawaii in 2005. We are passionate about serving customers our carefully handcrafted products including an extensive menu of coffee, tea and beverage innovations exclusive to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®, and locally made fresh food offerings.
The barista is responsible for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer. The barista is also responsible for educating customers about our premium coffees and teas. The barista fulfils any other duties the store manager, assistant manager or shift supervisor assigns and represents The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in a professional manner.
Skills
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy, Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Program, Word, Outlook, Excel etc.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
- Requires high organization and great attention to detail
- Performs with a “sense of urgency” and possesses a positive attitude
Education & Experience
- Entry level position
- Register and cash handling experience a plus
Other Requirements
- At least fourteen (14) years of age at the time of start date. Acceptable proof of age must be provided after the job offer and prior to start date.
- Certificate of Employment or Certificate of Age, as applicable, required before applicant under the age of 18 years may start work.
- Work hours for employees under the age of 18 years subject to limitations as provided by applicable law.
Physical Requirements
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Regularly required to handle food, hot beverages, and work with sharp objects
- Frequent standing and walk for long periods of time, approximately 90% of shift
- Ability to bend over and kneel frequently
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; occasionally carry up to 25 pounds
- Required to work in cold temperatures for long periods of time
