Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support and care to individuals in various care settings. This role involves assisting clients with daily activities, monitoring their health, and ensuring their comfort and safety. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, assessing mental status, and reporting any changes in condition promptly.
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, laundry, and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a respectful and engaging environment for clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or other developmental disabilities.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings using personal transportation assistance or client-specific vehicles.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as Hoyer lift training or medication administration are a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and use patient transfer methods effectively.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is desirable.
