The Field Coordinator supports the successful execution of underground utility projects by coordinating field operations, crews, materials, schedules, and communication between the field and office teams. This role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate daily field activities for underground utility projects, including water, sewer, storm, gas, and/or electrical systems

Serve as a primary point of contact between field crews, project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and vendors

Assist with scheduling crews, equipment, deliveries, and subcontractors to meet project timelines

Verify that work is performed according to plans, specifications, safety standards, and company procedures

Conduct site visits to monitor progress, address issues, and support field personnel

Assist with job documentation including daily reports, photos, as-builts, and material tracking
- Support utility locating, permitting, traffic control coordination, and inspections

Help identify and resolve field issues related to constructability, materials, or scheduling

Promote and enforce company safety policies and regulatory compliance (OSHA, local codes, etc.)

Track quantities, production rates, and assist with cost control as needed

Communicate project updates and field conditions to project management in a timely manner
Required Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required; construction or technical training preferred

2+ years of experience in underground utilities, civil construction, or related field

Working knowledge of underground utility installation methods, materials, and equipment

Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and utility maps

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions

Proficient with basic technology (mobile devices, email, project management software a plus)

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between job sites
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience coordinating crews or acting in a lead/foreman support role

Familiarity with local utility standards, municipalities, and inspection processes

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain)

Experience with GPS, as-built documentation, or construction management software
Work Environment:

Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow.

Exposure to dust, mud, insects, and loud equipment.

Regularly exposed to construction hazards such as open trenches, moving equipment, and vehicular traffic.

May require overtime or weekend work depending on project needs.

Occasionally lift items over 80 pounds with assistance.

Stand, walk, and move over uneven terrain, construction sites, and confined areas for the majority of the workday.

Bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, twist, and crawl into trenches, under structures, or within tight enclosures.

Climb ladders, steps, or equipment to access elevated or underground work zones.

Ability to drive or ride in a vehicle for up to 11 hours to travel to and from job sites.
